Heroin for Tikes. Mediated Communication #3
I came across this report via Yahoo but it was originally posted on Rueters. A Delaware mother is charged after her daughter brings heroin to daycare. My initial reaction to this was "WHAT THE HELL!". I am trying to critically think if that is the appropriate response to this. I'm sure I'm spot on with WHAT THE HELL! I would say the fallacy falls upon the Delaware judicial system. Why was bail even an option? Not only did she endanger her own children but, an innocent mistake by a 4 year old could have ended tragically. I'm going to use some assumptive thinking here. It seems clear that the mother either sells or helps sell heroin. At least the individually bagged heroin in the daughters backpack leads me to suspect that she sells. Again, how was bail even an option? In my opinion no bail and some serious jail time for this lady (I purposely used lady). Luckily no one was hurt. However, how much will this affect and effect her children?

Wow. That to me is unreal. I have to agree with your initial response. Though I’ll let the words you said speak for myself as well. I’m appalled by the low amount she had to post to get out as well. What is the cost of a human life? Or in this case, the cost of a daycare full of below school age children. Babies really. Are their lives worth only $6000? She has 250 packets of heroin to distribute to whomever will pay her. Thousands of dollars worth. She can make back what she spent on bail in a day and that is her consequence for the endangerment of multiple innocent children from other families? $6000? It was more than her daughter that she endangered and yet the report says “endangerment of a child”. Hopefully she will receive full justice for her actions. Although, with her being able to get out so easily, somehow I doubt she will see the inside of a jail cell, at least on this charge. Endangerment isn’t enough? Maybe it would have been different if one of the children actually ate the heroin like candy. Maybe then justice would be served.
